The Melaten cemetery in Cologne contains a special family vault: The rear section of the Waffenschmidt tomb is framed by a two-metre high and 4.28-metre wide vaulted wall mosaic.
It shows Jesus and his disciples on the Mount of Olives. van Treeck's mosaicists have 'painted' an analogue and permanent pixel image of our time with some eighty thousand coloured smalti.
