At the invitation of designer Sebastian Herkner, the Gustav van Treeck Workshops participated with a representative work in the exhibition 'Homo Faber - Patterns of Craft' in 2022.

The large-format glass painting 'Red'n'Ball' was created for this purpose. The artistic concept of 'Red'n'Ball' is based on the idea of showcasing the contemporary craftsmanship of the workshops and bringing glass painting expertise to Venice. Based on Vasarely's idea of spatial illusion, the work features a sphere and a deep red-orange colour gradient in addition to the prescribed geometric pattern.

Transparent red in all its nuances is one of the most spectacular colours in modern float glass painting. It is quite difficult to achieve a deep red colour as transparent red glass oxides are not available. Multiple applications of pink, yellow and orange stained glass colours and multiple colour firings are required to create the strong reds in the colour gradient. Finally, sandblasting created the illusion of depth with a three-dimensional sphere behind the ornament.

In May 2022, the hand-painted intense red on glass from the traditional house of van Treeck shone for three weeks alongside other artisan masterpieces on San Giorgio in Venice.

Red stained glass for Venice - at the invitation of the Michelangelo Foundation, the traditional Munich workshops created a prestigious piece of craftsmanship.
